The Calatrava - puristic elegance

Patek Philippe's Calatrava model, in this sense, represents the prototype of the elegant round wristwatch. The aesthetic round shape plays a special role in the Patek Philippe Calatrava. Today, as in the past, the luxury watches from Patek Philippe inspire with balanced elegance. The Calatrava model from Patek Philippe also embodies the style of the Swiss watch manufacturer and is compatible with all trends, allowing several generations to enjoy the chronograph. It offers, for example, a wide-polished bezel, an extra-flat design, and Clous-de-Paris decoration. This makes the Calatrava collection highly versatile in its design. The Calatrava model from Patek Philippe - a brief summary of the five highlights: Tradition that has stood the test of time since 1932, first Patek Philippe chronometer with reference number (96), elegant cases that you can choose in white, red and yellow gold, one of the most prestigious as well as famous dresswatches manufacture caliber.

Inspiration from Bauhaus style

The Patek Philippe Calatrava did not always possess the image of a conservative timepiece. The first models of this collection appeared as early as 1932 and thus have an impressive history. Hardly any other brand can look back on such history. The designers of Patek Philippe luxury watches at that time were not bound by tradition, but were interested in innovation. At the beginning of the 1930s, the founders of the watch manufactory were inspired by the Bauhaus style - a German school of art. Bauhaus meant focusing on essentials and any abandonment of ornate details. The Calatrava was an innovation at the time.

Historic company emblem - the lily cross

The Calatrava series got its name from the fleur-de-lis cross, a symbol worn by a Spanish Catholic knightly order in the Middle Ages. Jean-Adrien Philippe comes from the village that has the Calatrava cross in its coat of arms. This is probably one reason why the posh brand uses the motif as its corporate emblem. In 1887, the Patek Philippe company registered the symbol as its logo. The Spanish Catholic Order of Knights Calatrava was founded in 1158 and took the fleur-de-lis cross as its symbol after monks of the order saved the city of the same name from Arab invaders. Antoine Patek was a devout Catholic and probably knew the historical significance of the symbol. Starting in 1887, the Patek Philippe brand first produced pocket watches and then fine wristwatches marked with the Calatrava cross. The emblem can be found on case backs, winding crowns and clasps of Patek Philippe luxury watches. Patek Philippe's elegant Calatrava model has represented the company's flagship timepiece since 1932 (reference 96), making it the company's most frequently made timepiece. Today, the model Calatrava by Patek Philippe design is still reminiscent of symbolism of the cross of Calatrava - timeless simplicity and elegance.
