The Lange 1 model family from A. Lange & Söhne fuses the expertise and technical sophistication of an entire watchmaking dynasty. The Saxon manufacture has been in existence since 1845 and can proudly look back on an impressive success story, for which the fine Lange 1 model laid the foundation.

The fulfillment of a dream

Lange 1 watches are the result of a great dream of a brave man. At the time of the German Wall, the manufactory suffered a setback and went into forced hiatus for 40 years. However, Ferdinand Adolph Langes, the great-grandson of founder Walter Lange, never gave up and firmly resolved to continue making the finest wristwatches. After reunification, he finally re-founded the traditional company with a clear vision: the first Lange watch of the modern era.

Traditional craftsmanship

While the Lange 1 marks a new beginning, it was important to Ferdinand Adolph Lange to preserve the roots of the manufacture and to equip his timepieces with traditional elements such as three-quarter plates, screwed gold chatons, screw balances and hand-finished surfaces. The new Lange wristwatch was intended to echo the standout quality of A. Lange & Söhne's historic pocket watches, continuing the family legacy in a dignified manner.

Innovative design

However, Lange 1 watches were not only intended to commemorate the achievements of previous watchmakers, but also to set new standards. For this reason, the company approached the design of the timepiece with innovative ideas - and took a completely new path in the process. Typical of the Lange 1 are the decentralized displays on the dial, as they form an isosceles triangle so that none of the displays is hidden by another. This guarantees ideal readability at all times. In addition, the large date made of numerals in a golden frame is characteristic of watches from the Lange 1 family. For this, the famous five-minute clock of the Dresden Semper Opera has served as inspiration.
